I'm going to go out and say this now, because it's driving me nuts and I'm finding this to be a problem in a lot of places. This doesn't really refer to anyone in particular, but just about everyone has done it at one point or another.

It's perfectly fine to form your own opinions. However, if you have an opinion about something that you are going to share publically to influence others' opinions, please have the common courtesy to reevaluate the basis of your opinion to ensure it is still valid.

As for the particular event that triggered this rant: I simply don't understand how the actions of certain companies ten years ago still defines their existance in the minds of people when they clearly have changed (for the better or the worse). Opinions should have changed along with it.

Um. Yeah, I did this last year, and I'm doing it again this year.

Gargoyles Season 2 Volume 1 on DVD

Comes out tomorrow, and again, future releases are hinging on how well this sells. I know a lot of people who liked the show, but not until the second season... well, here's the first half of the second season! =p

This article on Game Watch caught my eye today. It discusses how there seems to be a big problem with Soulcalibur III and corrupt saves.

Upon some more research, I uncovered a few sources of information on this and what has been discovered.

Apparently, there's a glitch where if you delete anything off your memory card that was there before the SC3 save was created, you "condemn" your SC3 save to corruption. It'll load with no errors the next time you start the game after deleting something, but when you save, the file will become corrupt. The scope of the corruption varies - sometimes affecting just Chronicles of the Sword, but sometimes resulting in a file that cannot be loaded at all (like what happened to Alex).

This bug has been reproduced in all versions of the game - US/C, PAL, J, and Asian. It has been acknowledged on the Japanese site.

I'm heading out to spend Thanksgiving with... people. Not sure exactly where I'll be or when I'll be back. =p

So I was browsing Play-Asia, and I noticed that they are selling Shikigami no Shiro 2 for $15... figures they'd do this AFTER I order it for $25. >.> It's a fantastic game, so if you have an import capable PS2, go get it now!

Umm.
I'm in the computer lab trying to finish a few of my programming assignments. Just when I thought all the chatty people had left the room, someone in the next row begins CALIBRATING A SPEECH RECOGNITION PROGRAM.

What the heck could one possibly be thinking, using a speech recognition program in a computer lab where people are supposed to keep quiet in order to not disturb others? >.>

At about 10:30 this morning, while taking the SteamVac back to the basement after cleaning a root beer spill on my bedroom carpet (argh), I heard a loud "thud" come from the direction of the front door, shortly followed by the sound of a truck driving off. Turns out a UPS man had given a Play-Asia package the standard treatment and dropped it off (literally) onto the front porch.

So yeah, the Goli artbook is here. All three of them (the other two belonging to johnny_rainbow and metro_sage), along with the accompanying 2m36s DVD. I'm not kidding about that runtime either.

See images...Collapse )

So I just happened to notice what an interesting list of items I've been listed under in my Play-Asia referrals.

Since I'm a referral whore, I'll start with putting up the banner (which I actually haven't done yet)...

Play-Asia.com - Your One-Stop-Shop for Asian Entertainment

Okay, now then, here's the list of items I've received referral credit for:

  • GOLI Picture Collection: Golializze Goli Matsumoto Archives ( Japanese)
  • Nintendo Puzzle Collection (Gamecube™ Japanese)
  • Radiata Stories (PlayStation2™ Asia)
  • Cha Cha Amigo Controller (Dreamcast™ )
  • Street Fighter Anniversary Collection (PlayStation2™ Korean)
  • Capcom vs SNK 2: Millionaire Fighting 2001 (PlayStation2 the Best) (PlayStation2™ Japanese)
  • Mario Stage Figure Vol.2
  • FreeLoader (Gamecube™ )
  • Naruto Plush Doll - Model C: Inuzuka Kiba
  • Nissin Cup Noodles - Spicy Beef Flavor

That last one amuses me.

Soulcalibur III - Opening.avi (65.1mb)

This is my second experiment with encoding in XviD 1.1beta2 (my first being ARIA The Animation episode 1). I changed the fourcc to something DivX compatible for this one, so you shouldn't actually need XviD to watch this. The video is decoded directly from the MPEG-2 source; the audio is however an analog capture. I'm not sure if the sync is perfect - it seems to drift a little bit off as you get further into the video.

And just for kicks, I dug up my old SC2 OP encode too.

Soul Calibur II - Opening (PS2).avi (45.4mb)

I think that was encoded in XviD 0.9. Again, made DivX compatible.

Haven't actually played the game itself all that much. This is usually one of the first things I do when I get a new game. ^^;
